Online Therapy for Anxiety in Postpartum &

New Madrehood

For California moms who wants to feel more grounded, present & alligned.

Check out “Grounded in Postpartum” Group & Community Space

Hi! I’m Johanna,

& I help new moms navigate anxiety, generational trauma & the roller coaster of madrehood so they can show up grounded, present & alligned with what matters most to them.

Anxiety in early motherhood can often be overlooked & untreated (especially if it’s rooted in generational trauma). Though some worry & anxiety is a “normal” part of being a mom, certain levels of it can take us away from the present moment & cause us to parent from a place of fear & worry.

Some signs of anxiety in postpartum & new motherhood include:

  • overwhelmed by these feelings of fear & worry
  • feeling irritable or on-edge often
  • feeling the need to do things perfectly
  • fear of setting boundaries &/or asking for help
  • obsessing about how much milk baby is getting
  • weighing baby before and after feeds
  • difficulty sleeping & relaxing
  • constantly worrying you’re not doing things right
  • feeling paralyzed by “doom” and racing thoughts
  • avoiding situations for fear something will happen
  • physical symptoms like nausea, stomachaches, muscle tension, headaches, restlessness & more
A Mother and Her Child

If you connected with any of that, I want to encourage you to take a deep breath, in through your nose and out through your mouth slowly. You deserve to get support ! There are many therapeutic tools for reducing anxiety levels (including mindfulness skills, CBT, physical activity, support groups, inner child work, etc...) and I can help you create a plan that works for you.

You don’t have to get used to feeling on-edge, irritable and stressed out all the time. It’s okay (and often necessary) to ask for help. Future you will thank you! If you are ready for some additional support, fill out the consultation interest form below.

Some frequently asked questions

What is the free 15 min consultation call like?

I will ask you about your goals and provide a brief overview of my services (which currently include both individual and group therapy). You can also ask me any questions you may have. If we're a good fit, we will confirm availability for sessions and get you scheduled. If I'm not the right fit for you, I will do my best to connect you with a resource that fits your needs.

What is the first meeting like?

During our first intake meeting, I will be asking you questions to get to know you better. The first few meetings are focused on getting a clearer understanding of your background & experiences and creating a plan to help you meet your goals. Collaboratively, we will decide how you would like sessions to look. This is YOUR time and I want to make sure your preferences are included so please let me know what works and what doesn't- I won't take it personally (lol).

How often will we meet & for how long?

Therapy is most beneficial when you are able to apply skills in between sessions and process the growth and barriers consistently. For this reason, I ask for regularly scheduled appointments that are weekly or bi-weekly, especially in the beginning. I understand life & financial barriers happen so monthly sessions are also an option. Most important is that you have a dedicated time that you are investing in your mental health. Something as simple as including this as part of your consistent routine is huge step of growth.

How can I contact you?

Email is typically best and I will do my best to respond within 2 days. My email is jlee@jleebre.com. If you are my current client, please contact me through the secure messaging portal or leave me a voicemail at 858-326-0831.

If you need immediate assistance, please reach out to one of the contacts on the resource page.

What's your session availability?

My availability varies but my usual working days are Tuesday-Thursday afternoons with some limited evening availability by inquiry. All services are offered online and I can work with anyone living in California. You can email me about current availability at jlee@jleebre.com

What are the prices & payment options?

My rate is $150 for 50-55 minute individual sessions and $30 for 55-60 minute group sessions. If I do not receive a cancelation within 24 hours of our meeting or if I am "no-showed" there is a session fee ($100 for individuals & $30 for groups). My fees account for my degrees, training and experience. I will send you a good faith estimate within 3 days of our intake. Read more on that on my last page.

I accept a limited # of insurance clients through Headway . Visit my headway profile or email me if you would like to confirm if I am taking any insurances and which ones.

What will we work on in therapy?

Everyone's journey looks different since it will be tailored to your specific needs and goals but here are some common topics that are discussed in therapy:

-processing childhood wounds, including trauma and adversity

-gaining insight onto the cycles of anxiety, burnout and trauma

-your attachment style

-stress management and nervous system regulation skills

-embracing "good enough" and letting go of perfectionism

-learning to respond instead of react (there's a difference!)

-setting healthy boundaries

-the roots of people-pleasing and how to let it go

-learning how to communicate your needs

-barriers to asking for and receiving help

-making a plan to delegate when you're feeling overwhelmed

-notice your patterns of fight, flight, freeze, fawn in your mind & body

-learning to use positive discipline skills in parenting

-different parenting styles

-barriers to seeking community

-healthy relationship skills

-communication skills

-setting a plan to rest and recharge

-ways to reparent your inner child

-implement habits for self-compassion & grace

and whatever else you want to bring in!

What are some benefits to not using insurance?

There are a few reasons to opt out of using insurance:

  1. Increased control over your services. Insurance can dictate session lengths & how long you can receive services- even if it's not in your best interest.
  2. Increased confidentiality. Information about diagnosis or sessions does not need to be disclosed to insurance or documented on medical record.
  3. Increased flexibility. With private pay, you don't need a mental health diagnosis to receive services so it can open up possibilities around sessions and treatment goals.
  4. Increased transparency. Insurance coverage can get confusing around deductibles or what is covered, which could leave someone needing to pay when they were not expecting. With private pay, you know exactly what you will pay and when from the start.
  5. Stability in provider. If your insurance were to change (e.g. job switch) you may need to switch providers, even if you got comfortable with them.
